Maybe it seems obvious to you… …but I know S Maybe it seems obvious to you…

…but I know SO MANY TEACHERS who jump through hoops trying to capture “perfect moments” of their experience so they can share them with studio families or on social media.

There are many *good* reasons to record your teaching… but trying to validate your work is not one of them.

The experiences we have with our students matter, regardless of what we capture on our cameras.

Sometimes we just need to put the devices away and concentrate on the moment in front of us. 🤍

In creating this show, I’ve always intended it to feel as though we were having a conversation at our favorite coffee ☕️ house.

Well, as those conversations often go… Episode 195 takes some turns. 🤪

Last week was BIG on my side of TeacherWorld and I wanted to process a few of my thoughts with you today.

(Maybe it’s dangerous to give me a platform during these seasons of life?🤷🏼‍♀️😂)

Regardless, there are DEFINITELY nuggets for everyone in this episode and I hope you’ll allow me to keep you company for 23 minutes at some point this week.

…can’t wait to hear your thoughts! 🥂

🚨 Soapbox alert! 🚨 Teaching rhythmic under 🚨 Soapbox alert! 🚨

Teaching rhythmic understanding is *so* much more than MUSIC MATH.

Episode 193 of Beyond Measure - where I talk about some of my favorite takeaways from being a Suzuki Violin Parent - skims the surface of my thoughts on the matter.

Gone are the days where we should be afraid of letting students EXPERIENCE a rhythm before they read it.

…and, best of all, we can ALL use this approach, regardless of our chosen methodology.

I hope you’ll check out Episode 193; an easy 20-minute listen.

…can’t wait to hear your thoughts on this one! 🤓

I’m SO curious… 🤓 In last week’s meetup I’m SO curious… 🤓

In last week’s meetup of Teachers Teaching Teachers, we stumbled on a terrific conversation involving things our high school teachers said about our futures in music.

Some were encouraged to keep playing… others, well, weren’t.

Regardless of the advice given, it was ultimately followed.

It’s SUCH an important reminder that our Teacher Words matter more than we realize.

So now I need to know: what were your high school teachers (private teachers, band/choir directors, etc.) saying to you?

Check out more in episode 192 of Beyond Measure with Christina Whitlock. 🥂

This is the question we’re exploring in Episode 192 of Beyond Measure.

For better or for worse, we’ve all built persona For better or for worse, we’ve all built personal narratives based on teachers’ words…

Today we are reminding ourselves of the impact our words have on students.

We also reflect on the importance of only speaking to what we know.

Episode 192 is an 11 minute, 11 second listen that could very well be the reminder you (and your students!) need this week.
